The 4991A LanProbe Segment Monitor monitors all traffic on the Ethernet and collects information on node traffic on the segment. It attaches to the end of an Ethernet segment. Attachment can be direct to a thin- or thick-coaxial cable, or via an external transceiver to fiber optic or twisted-pair cabling. It connects information on: packets, utilization, broadcasts, multicasts, and various types of errors.
