Acterna announces an integrated DS1 to OC-192/STM-64 testing solution that won't weigh you down or slow you down. The High Speed Optical Analyzer will help you translate rapid network deployment and service reliability into profitability.

The Acterna FST-2510A enables global service providers to decrease time to revenue and time to repair as they deploy and maintain DS1 to 10 Gbit/s services in metro and DWDM networks.

As multi-service provisioning platforms in metro networks are deployed in greater numbers, service providers are seeking new ways to equip the workforce with a single test solution covering numerous technologies. The Acterna FST-2510A allows technicians to install and maintain electrical and optical (SONET/SDH) services and network elements with a single module.

Portable and Feature Rich

At 15 lbs., the FST-2510A is portable for field applications and also can serve as a central office tester. The instrument supports bit error rate testing of 1.5 Mbit/s to 10 Gbit/s line interfaces for SONET and SDH networks, and can analyze multiplexed payloads as well as concatenated signals.

The FST-2510A also supports advanced features such as full overhead manipulation, APS testing and roundtrip delay measurements.

"Providers are focusing on enabling high speed Internet connectivity and converging multiple technologies by deploying multi-service provisioning platforms in metro networks," said Jerry Gentile, vice president of strategic marketing for access networks. Investment Protection

Many metro and DWDM networks are running at 2.5 Gbit/s today, with 10 Gbit/s upgrades planned for the future. As networks migrate to new technologies, service providers will endeavor to protect their investment in test equipment as they expand network capabilities.

The Acterna FST-2510A can be configured as DS1 through 2.5 Gbit/s, as 10Gbit/s only, or as complete DS1 through 10 Gbit/s, depending on immediate need, with upgrades to a full-featured configuration available when needed.

Industry Standard Platform

As an industry standard platform with 20,000 units deployed in the field, the Acterna TestPad affords investment protection because service providers can capitalize on the investment already made. The Acterna TestPad platform supports analysis of T-and E-carrier, wireless, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, DWDM, copper and DSL networks. The FST-2510A continues the TestPad legacy of easy-to-use test instruments that make it the test solution of choice for virtually all service providers in North America.

The Acterna FST-2510A TestPad will be showcased with a variety of new broadband networking solutions at Supercomm in Atlanta, June 4-6, at Acterna booth 23246. The FST-2510A will be available later this year.
