The DLS 5103 is a next generation impairment generator which provides narrow and broadband noise, crosstalk and transient impairments used for testing ADSL, SHDSL, HDSL, HDSL2 and ISDN. The DLS 5103 offers all of the capability of its DLS 5101 (NSA 400) predecessor in addition to refined noise shapes and additional noise shape generation capacity.
This was achieved by:
Improving FIR filtering from 64 to 256 taps
Reducing the noise floor to 140 dBm/Hz
De-correlating the noise generators
Increasing the bandwidth of all XTALK generators to 2.0 MHz
The DLS 5103 consists of seven discrete generator sections the outputs of which are individually controlled and if needed, can be summed together.
The seven sections are:
White noise generator
3 high frequency (50 2.0 MHz) crosstalk PSD generators.
